After fluorescent labelling, samples are placed in the ChemScan RDI analyser.

The system laser scans the entire membrane in under 3 minutes. Scanning is fully overlapping and any viable cell present on the filter, which has been specifically labelled with the Fluorassure® reagents, will be individually detected.

To ensure only labelled micro-organisms are detected and counted, ChemScan RDI employs proprietary signal discrimination techniques and digital data analysis.
