Growing pressure
from consumers regarding the microbial quality of tap water together
with increasingly stringent regulation is resulting in a widespread
re-assessment of drinking water microbiology test methods.
Supply companies
strive to improve control of source and drinking water quality,
together with minimising supply disruption during operational
incidents (mains bursts, heavy rainfall etc). However, conventional
analytical methods minimise the scope for improvement through
their current limitations in terms of sensitivity of detection
and speed to result.
Chemunex has
addressed the need for rapid, ultra-sensitive methods in drinking
water analysis by combining the ChemScan RDI with probe-based cell labels.
Methods for
the routine analysis of Cryptosporidium/ Giardia in minutes
and E.coli, in under 3.5 hours using the ChemScan RDI
as a single analytical platform are now available.
